According to the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), a judgment on the petition filed by the Allied People’s Movement (APM) will be rendered later.
The APM is asking for the nullification of Tinubu’s election, claiming that his running mate, Kashim Shettma, was not qualified to run due to a double nomination.
On Friday morning, the presiding justice of the court, Justice Haruna Tsammani, declared that the court would reserve judgment until a date to be communicated to the parties. Furthermore, Justice Tsammani stated that the court plans to deliver the judgment in the APM petition on the same day as the judgments for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)/Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi/Labour Party (LP).
The respondents in the petition are the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the APC, Tinubu, Shettma, and Kabir Masari (who acted as the APC’s placeholder before Shettma’s nomination). Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) led the legal team of Tinubu and Shettma; Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) led the team of the All Progressives Congress (APC); Steven Adehi (SAN) led INEC’s team; Roland Otaru (SAN) represented Masari; and Andrew Malgwi represented the APM.
